How to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Filed in Lifestyle by on March 13, 2014

v2 ecigs st patricks dayThis Monday, March 17th, is St. Patrick’s Day – traditionally, it’s an Irish holiday meant to celebrate Saint Patrick’s success in driving the “snakes” out of Ireland. But over the years, St. Patrick’s Day has become a global celebration of everything Irish, from beer and whiskey to shamrocks and leprechauns. For most people, it’s a day to wear green and get inebriated. Just remember that this year it’s on a Monday and most people will have to work the next day – so don’t go too crazy. Grab your e cig and be merry, but let’s make it an early night, shall we?

Here are some ideas on how to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day a bit differently this year. Start early so you can be functional on Tuesday.

v2 ecigsGo to an Irish Pub for happy hour and make some new friends – ecigs make great conversation starters. Ask around and see if anyone knows how to do a traditional (or non-traditional) Irish dance. Maybe the bartender will make an announcement for you. Chances are you’ll end up dancing in circles with your arms around two sweaty strangers. Don’t forget to enjoy your share of beer or Irish whiskey (trust us; it will make you a better dancer). Just have a designated driver on call and remember to drink several glasses of water to avoid a terrible hangover. Click here for a global directory of Irish pubs.

Host a party in the early evening and require your guests to wear green attire. Pick up some cheap leprechaun costumes or make your own; just head to a party store and get some green top hats and bow ties. Anyone not wearing green must dress as a leprechaun for the night. No pinching allowed. See next point.

Grown-ups don’t like the pinching tradition. Please, don’t pinch anyone just because they’re not wearing green. It’s childish, rude and it hurts. If you must make a game of it, pinch softly and keep a written count of how many people you annoy (you may as well go all out). Just don’t be surprised if your game backfires on you – pinch someone who really is wearing green and they get to pinch you back ten times. And they’ll probably make it hurt.

Wear green, if for no other reason than to avoid those stupid pinches. Note that our V2 Menthol flavor cartridges are green. While your electric cigarettes probably won’t stop an over-zealous person from pinching, it’s worth a try! Plus, V2 Menthol tastes so good…

Have your own parade in front of your house. Invite several outgoing friends and neighbors to join you. Deck yourselves in festive green and gold, learn an Irish song and parade up and down the street (go around the block if you’re feeling brave; or, go to someone else’s neighborhood if you’re not). Just don’t do it too late at night, or the mothers with sleeping babies will come after you. Take one of your ecigs along so you can puff during the parade.

Look for a rainbow and see if you can find a pot of gold at the end (you’ll have to find the end first). Granted, you probably won’t. But hey, it could be a fun adventure… Plus, you’ll have your e cig with you, which just makes everything better.

Next Year: Celebrate with the Irish in Ireland. Check out a parade and drink some beer. Find someone with patience and work on your Irish brogue. Better yet, work on your brogue before getting on the plane. Want to impress the local barflies? Two weeks before departure, start building up your tolerance to alcohol so you can go toe-to-toe with the Irish masters of beer-guzzling. Most airports allow ecigs, so don’t forget to bring along your V2! Disposables are great travel buddies.

And now, we leave you with a traditional Irish toast…

“May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light, and may good luck pursue you each morning and night.”

Sláinte! (that’s “cheers!” in Irish)
