As most vapers know, trying to quit smoking cigarettes altogether is one of the hardest things you’ll ever do. If you’re among the 17 million Americans who say they want to kick the habit, you can use all the help you can get. Of course, there’s also an app for that – there are plenty, actually. Here we take a look at the top 5.
LIVESTRONG MyQuit Coach (iPhone)
This app lets you personalize a plan to taper off cigarettes slowly. You set goals and decide on the pace. There’s a budget tracker to see how much money you’re saving by not smoking, and charts and visuals to show your progress. Users can upload personal motivation notes for handy viewing – akin to posting favorite inspirational quotes on your bathroom mirror. What’s more, the app connects you to a community of fellow trying-to-quit smokers, so there’s support when you need it.
This app feeds you all the stats and hard data you need to stay motivated. Use it to keep track of the days, hours, and minutes since your last cigarette; how many cigarettes you’ve avoided; and money and time saved. The app also feeds you U.N. World Health Organization indicators on how your health is improving, and also lets you share stats on social media.
Get Rich or Die Smoking (Android)
A money-focused app for the financially-minded, this app has all the basics but also shows you what you could buy with the money you’ve saved by not smoking. (We think a new vape pen or vaporizer should be on that list!) And it probably wins for the best quit-smoking app title.
Smoke Free (iPhone)
Another highly-rated app loaded with all the basics to keep track of how you’re doing, and an added bonus: the app is actually an experiment to aid researchers in figuring out how to better help people stop smoking. Think of it as a sort of unofficial clinical trial. If you’re the kind of person who wants to see more people kick the habit, this may be the one to choose.
Quit Smoking: Cessation Nation (Android)
This popular app also comes with all the basic tools – money saved, cigarettes not smoked, health progress – and provides amusing games to play to distract you from those cravings.
