As many of you know, the vaporizer industry is currently waiting for the White House to review and finalize deeming regulations provided by the Food and Drug Administration. Millions of people enjoy vaping in their homes and out in some public places; e-cigarette and vaporizer devices have enabled millions of people to transition away from tobacco products. It’s our mission as a company to remind the V2 community that elected officials and government agencies can limit your freedom to vape and to access affordable vapor products. For this reason alone, it is important to be involved and informed with local and national politics.
Mayors, city counsel members, senators, House Representatives and even governors around the country have already enacted local or state vaporizer regulations. V2 supports commonsense rulings, including requiring vapor product buyers to be at least 18 years old. While we support making vapor businesses more reliable and trustworthy through fair guidelines, we don’t want to see unnecessary taxing and regulation on the local, state or national level.
If you want to continue to enjoy the freedom to vape, or don’t want to face heavy taxes on your e-liquid and e-cigarette products, participate in annual elections and local town hall political meet ups. When there aren’t enough vaporizer enthusiasts being represented at local city official meetings and hearings, unreasonable taxes and rulings may be imposed. These instances are similar to what happened in Washington D.C. Just last October, the country’s capital implemented a new 67 percent excise tax on vapor products sold in local vapor shops. While this specific law doesn’t affect online sales at V2.com, it is a detriment to the overall vapor industry.
V2 vapers can and should voice their support for the vapor community and vaporizer products by calling, emailing and tweeting their local elected officials. The more citizens hold politicians accountable, the better chance that fair regulations and laws will be created for its citizens, rather than large multi-national corporations like big tobacco companies.
This marks an important year for national politics, as it is the year where Americans will choose the next sitting president. While we’re not here to officially endorse any particular candidate, we encourage the vaporizer community to remain informed and go to the polls, for both the primary election in February and the general election in November. Research each candidate, read more than just news headlines and learn what issues are most important to them. The more you know about all candidates’ voting record and previous work experience, the more of an educated opinion you can form when deciding who is best suited to run this country. With the right president in office, vapor companies can continue to improve industry standards, availability, economic growth and public perception.
What do you think about the current presidential candidates? Who do you think will make the next best president of the United States? We are hoping at least one presidential candidate is in support of the vaporizer community. Tell us in the comment section below who you think will win the election and make sure to share this blog post with your friends on Facebook and Twitter.
